Princeton Shoreline
US Army Corps of Engineers
2024: US Army Corps will examine Princeton shoreline solutions consistent with their Section 111 authority. βThe Princeton shoreline appears to have been altered by the presence of the Federal breakwaters constructed in the mid-20th century which disrupted longshore transport. The current shoreline has both eroded and accreted portions with the eroded section threatening homes and utilities and accreted section impacting navigation in the harbor for search and rescue operations and commercial fishing.β SMC Harbor District is non-federal sponsor and will be coordinating with OneShoreline and County Planning during this phase.

Princeton Shoreline Access Improvements
Viewing benches at Broadway in 2017 (blog post), and beach access at Vassar in 2021 (blog post), were implemented by County Dept of Public Works (DPW) with funding requested by Supervisor Horsley. The planned wooden stairs at Columbia were not built due to the severe beach scouring that had occurred by Sept 2021.
DPW provides vegetation mowing as needed to maintain the harbor viewing area at end of Broadway.
