The final report on the US Army Corps of Engineers Northern HMB Shoreline Improvement Project has been released, over seven years and $1 million after project inception. The reference value of the report itself, for the research and analyses contained, will be the only benefit of the study, because the Army Corps determined the cost/benefit ratio of the preferred alternative, harbor dredging and beach nourishment, does not meet the standards for federal funding. The Harbor District pilot beach nourishment project looks to the State of California for grant funding. More info and documents on the Surfers’ Beach page.
