On-line petition started by Montara resident Karen Wilson asks the Board of Supervisors to uphold the Midcoast Local Coastal Program and put a higher priority on protecting coastal ends of county streets for public benefit. Specifically, this concerns the private walling off of 5th and 7th Streets in Montara, which are public rights-of-way. The MCC most recently wrote the Board of Supervisors in this regard last April, and succeeded in persuading the County to remove the fence across the end of Seacliff (6th).
The petition page contains many interesting and compelling comments in support of public coastal access, which can be sorted by “latest” or “most popular”.
