County Cannabis Cultivation Ordinance

Following nearly a year of study during a temporary moratorium on commercial non-medical marijuana activity, San Mateo County is doing public outreach on a proposed Commercial Cannabis Cultivation Ordinance for the unincorporated area of the County.
Upcoming meetings:

Nov 9, 7pm, Ted Adcock Community Center
           535 Kelly Ave, HMB
Nov 13, 7pm, Agricultural Advisory Committee (staff report)
Old Train Depot, Higgins Canyon Rd, HMB
Nov 14, 7pm, Pescadero Municipal Advisory Council
Pescadero Community Church, 363 Stage Rd, Pescadero

The draft ordinance provides for commercial cultivation within greenhouses with a Business License with extensive operational requirements, oversight and enforcement.

The City of Half Moon Bay is working on their own cannabis cultivation ordinance. The boundary between unincorporated Midcoast communities and HMB is at Mirada and Alto Roads.

Harbor Commission to Discuss Permanent Headquarters Oct 18

San Mateo County Harbor Commission agenda for Oct 18, 2017, 6:30 PM, 504 Ave Alhambra, second floor, El Granada, includes two items of particular interest to the Midcoast community:

#11: Options for permanent District-owned headquarters in or near Pillar Point Harbor (staff report).

#12: District Administration Office Alteration Project at leased premises in El Granada. The staff report recommends proceeding with construction as cost effective given the minimum four-year time frame to move to permanent district-owned premises. The remodel is of particular local interest due to the shortage of public meeting space in the Midcoast. Granada Community Services Distriict (GCSD) has provided use of their meeting room to government and community groups, but the demand is high and space limited.

Proposed floor plan for Harbor Admin offices would provide a professional conference/meeting room which could be available for use by other local agencies and community organizations.  Meeting room layout plan includes seating at front table for 11 boardmembers and staff, and 30 audience seats.  Compare to GCSD meeting room with front table seating for eight, and audience seating for ~20.
