PROJECT ON HOLD: Quarry Park South Ridge Fire Road Extension (project page) would complete a loop through Quarry Park to provide first responder access in case of wildfire. It would connect the existing South Ridge Trail to Coronado Ave per recommendation of CalFire, with a gate at Coronado to control vehicle access. The project was approved by the Planning Commission 4/26/2023 (staff report), but construction bids were rejected by Board of Supervisors on 7/11/2023, putting the project on hold. road planCEQA document

San Mateo County Parks Department has completed a Quarry Park master plan in 2022 that will help guide park improvements over at least 20 years.  Mirada Surf East and West are included in the plan. The process included  review of historic documents, site assessments, sediment management strategies, analysis of existing features, biological assessment, fire management, and recreational uses.
