FMR parking lot Planning Commission Field Study Session
October 24, 11 AM, at Fitzgerald Marine Reserve parking lot, California & North Lake St, Moss Beach.
The FMR parking lot project (PLN2012-00126) involves an expansion, reconfiguration, and upgrade of the existing 39-space lot with amenities at the corner of California & Lake Street, Moss Beach. Members of the public are welcome to address the Commission on this item at the Field Study Session. Speakers are limited to one minute and are encouraged to limit their remarks to concerns that they believe should be addressed by staff or the Commission at the regular hearing of the item. The public will have full opportunity to address the Commission at the future regular hearing of the item.
Coastal Development Permit application for the project was scheduled for the 9/12/12 Planning Commission hearing, but was postponed to a date uncertain by request of the applicant (Parks and DPW). Site Plan 6/11/2012
For more information about FMR projects in the works, see Fitzgerald Marine Reserve Issues Page.
UPDATE 10/22/12:
Staff Report for Planning Commission Wed. Field Study Session is now available. Attachment D shows how the project would encroach widely into the 50-ft riparian buffer zone.
"Based on Planning staff's interpretation of the applicable LCP policies and the scope of the project, staff is seeking the Planning Commission's guidance regarding the expansion, reconfiguration and upgrades to the FMR parking lot in order for the applicant (DPW/Parks) to resubmit a compliant project."
FMR Trail unrecognizable after improvements
Much public comment is circulating, from concern to outrage or heartbreak, regarding the 20- to 40-foot wide swath that has been denuded through Fitzgerald Marine Reserve as County constructs 8-foot wide ADA accessible Dardenelle Trail.
