County/GCSD Reach Permit Agreement for Recreation on Granada Medians

San Mateo County and Granada Community Services District have negotiated a Permit Agreement, which authorizes GCSD to make specified park and recreation improvements to the Granada plazas and medians shown in the Permit.  Approved improvements include benches, children’s tree houses, children’s nature play areas, fencing for safety, fitness/exercise-stations, horse shoes, picnic tables, pump tracks, softball pitch and catch, spider-web rope net climbing equipment, swings and/or swing sets, tree maintenance and other landscaping, walking path improvements, water fountains, and youth basketball half court.

GCSD will be responsible for maintaining all trees and vegetation on the plazas and medians where improvements are constructed. GCSD will maintain liability insurance and hold the County harmless from any claims stemming from public use. Authorization of the 20-year permit is on the Board of Supervisors 2/13/18 Consent Agenda (staff report).

Harbor District Embarks on 2018 Strategic Planning Process

At the helm to facilitate the SMC Harbor District Strategic Planning process is Martin Rauch of Rauch Communication Consultants, Inc. (9/6/17 slide presentation).  The process has begun with the first of two Board Workshops (1/24/18 - video) to evaluate the district and identify strategic issue areas.  Those meetings will be followed by public outreach (stakeholder interviews and public workshops), followed by preparation of draft report, monitoring and oversight plan and presentation to the Board of Commissioners for adoption.

MCC will closely follow this process and help spread the word on public workshops.  Several years ago the District started and then abandoned a strategic planning effort, on which MCC submitted initial comments 7/9/14. See also MCC Pillar Point Harbor page.
